You are invited to participate in our Christmas Eve service on December 24 at four p.m., either in person or online (at the website or on YouTube). Either way, we can celebrate the birth of Christ as one big church family. Westminster Church will present a full service, complete with Prayers, and Carols – including special music by the Westminster Choir, accompanied by Thomas Clark-Jones on the organ, communion, and candle-lighting. The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, to which all are welcome, will be celebrated by the Rev. Denise Clark-Jones, who will also bring the Christmas message.
Set your reminder now!
To participate in the lighting of the candles at home, use any candle you can find around the house and when prompted, light it, joining with those of us here on Moss Avenue as one church family. The same is true of Communion. Any bread and wine will do when set aside for use as the communion of the body and blood of Christ. All are welcome at the Westminster table, because it is Christ’s table, not ours, and He is the host of the Eucharistic meal of Christmas.
HOLY PRESENCE
This evening we celebrate the birth of the Christ child in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago. This vulnerable infant is the incarnation of God on earth. What an awesome gift that God would choose to be present, in the flesh, with us. In this year when traditions are being broken for the safety of family and friends, we nevertheless remember the Christ, who came not with fanfare and glory but into the mundane realities of a broken and hurting world. Jesus Christ has come to dwell among us and draw us to him. Let us rejoice!

“What goes through your mind as you sit in the sanctuary and look around?
As I sit in my pew and look up at the cross with the wonderful light illuminating it, I am reminded of why I am at Westminster on this particular day. The cross reminds me that Christ died for me and, in a sense, I am to do the same in my daily life. The brightness of the cross illustrates for me the brightness of living my life in the way of Christ.”
