“POSSESSED”

The first miracle recorded in Mark’s Gospel is Jesus’ healing of a man possessed by an unclean spirit. As Jesus teaches in a synagogue, the spirit recognizes Jesus as the Holy One of God before anyone else does. Jesus silences the spirit, delivering the man from evil. So begins Jesus’s ministry of using his God-given authority to free, heal, serve, empower, and transform others. How have we experienced that in our own lives? And how do we as a church embody Jesus’s healing authority to a world possessed by fear, anxiety, hatred, and pain?
