In our gospel reading for today, Thomas, the disciple, just wants to have for himself what the other disciples have already experienced. He wants to witness the Risen Christ before he commits to believing in the Resurrection. When he sees Jesus with the scars on his hands and feet, he goes from being a doubter to a believer. The reading from Acts demonstrates another response to the resurrection. The scriptures tell of apostles who were filled with the courage and fire of the Holy Spirit as they proclaimed the story of Jesus, despite strong opposition from the authorities. These powerful witnesses would not remain silent. Do we?

“Throughout the week, there are many worldly things pulling me away from my commitment to God. I come to church on Sunday at Westminster to reconnect and renew my relationship with Him. Part of my worship is to ask him for forgiveness for my lack of faithfulness. I leave, reminded that he loves me, forgives me, and walks beside me every day. What a profound blessing that is!”
