“THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME”

After more than a year of “virtual worship,” coming back to Westminster has seemed like coming home for many of us. And that is as it should be. There is a reason why our worship space is called a sanctuary. It is a safe place where we can be welcomed and feel like we belong. It is a place we can find peace and bring it with us when we leave to go back out into the world. It is no wonder King David wanted to make a house for God, but God refused because God had a different kind of house planned for David, one that would not try to confine God to a particular time or place. The Apostle Paul assured early Christian congregations that though the Empire may treat them as strangers and even enemies, they were citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God.”

Almighty God, the fountain of all wisdom, you know our necessities before
we ask and our ignorance in asking: Have compassion on our weakness,
and mercifully give us those things which for our unworthiness we dare not,
and for our blindness, we cannot ask; through the worthiness of your Son
Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
