No one likes criticism. No one wants to hear that their plans are foolish and doomed to failure. That is what makes prophets so very unpopular. Jeremiah was incessant in telling Israel’s movers and shakers their money and power-grabbing schemes, which exploited the most vulnerable in society, violated God’s laws. For 29 chapters, Jeremiah points his finger at the Israelites and lays the blame for their defeat and exile at their feet. But, in chapters 30 and 31, we have what is referred to as “Jeremiah’s Little Book of Consolation.” God promises a “new covenant,” which will be “written on their hearts.”

“Why am I a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church? Two words keep floating up in a rather persistent way – “home” and “family” – and I realized that it is an inescapable fact that is what this church means to me. During my 40 years here, so many life events have happened and Westminster has been there for me through all those times – good and bad. It has been my home and family. They say “home is where the heart is” and I’ve found the heart of Westminster to be as open and warm as a family’s!”
